Karan Johar does the Cha Cha

Co-host Madhuri Dixit teaches him to dance for the promo of a dance show

In the previous season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, judge Karan Johar had jokingly proclaimed that he wouldn’t be dancing in the show so as not to embarrass his mother.

Cut to the promo of the next season and you’ll see the filmmaker grooving with full gusto to the song One Two Cha Cha from Shalimar (1978). Although Karan had abandoned his ‘policy’ later to dance in another reality show and an award function, he hasn’t done a choreographed number ever. In the promo for the upcoming season of the Colors show, he and choreographer-director Remo D’Souza will be shown learning to dance from their co-judge, actor Madhuri Dixit.

When asked about Karan’s dance moves, Madhuri says, “I kept telling him that if he can dance to ‘Radha’ (Student Of The Year, 2012), then why not this? He took my advice and put his best foot forward. It’s great to finally see him dance, and we too loved dancing with him.”

A source from the sets adds, “All three judges, Madhuri, Karan and Remo are returning this year. They recently shot for this promo that will air next week. Madhuri’s known as a graceful Kathak dancer and she showed the same ability and ease while picking up the steps. Remo too was full of praise for Madhuri and Karan for learning the steps of the Cuban ballroom dance in one go and finishing the shot in a few takes.”
