Now, a horror-comedy film to be made on Bigg Boss

One of television’s most popular, dramatic series will now be made into a horror-comedy movie. After the success of Bigg Boss, the producers, Endemol India, are now planing to launch a film that will be based on the reality show.

After the success of the popular reality show, Bigg Boss, the producers, Endemol India, are now planing to launch a film that will be based on the reality show.

The makers, along with Select Media Holdings Pvt Ltd (the film production arm), will jointly produce a dark comedy. It will be based on the experiences the contestants have had in the Bigg Boss house, over the last six seasons. Slated to go on the floors in early 2013, the film is currently in its scripting stage.

“Globally, this formula (of converting hit shows into films) has worked well. For instance, shows like Sex & The City have done well as films too. In the Bigg Boss film, we are going to experiment with the horror-comedy genre,” says Nitin Tej Ahuja, director, Select Media Holdings Pvt Ltd.

Although the actors for the feature film are yet to be finalised, the makers have revealed that the audience will get to watch an ensemble cast comprising popular faces from television and Bollywood.

Housemates from the previous seasons of Bigg Boss are also being approached for the film.

Deepak Dhar, CEO, Endemol India says, “I feel the concept is interesting as Bigg Boss has achieved success in epic proportions. It has become part of daily lives and has managed to cut across all age groups. We are certain that we’ll be able to recreate the unpredictability of this format on the silver screen as well.”
