The Amar Jawan Jyoti or the ‘eternal flame’ for soldiers at India Gate has been put out after 50 years and merged with the flame at the National War Memorial. A row has broken out on the issue with some calling the Centre’s decision ‘appropriate’ while others including the opposition are terming it ‘fake patriotism’.
