December 21, 2020 marked the 10th anniversary of the elevation of India-Russia strategic partnership to special and privileged status. On the occasion, Russian ambassador to India, Nikolay Kudashev, and Deputy Chief of Mission, Roman Babushkin, commented on various facets of the relationship. Speaking on the potential threat of US sanctions over a key India-Russia defence deal, Kudashev said that Moscow only recognises sanctions imposed by the United Nations Security Council, not 'unilateral' ones. It was a reference to Washington imposing sanctions on Turkey for its $2.5 billion S-400 Triumf missile defence system deal. India is also buying S-400s for its arsenal in a deal worth $5.4 billion. The Russian diplomats also commented on their country's cooperation with Pakistan. Watch the full video for more.
