Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi started his 3-day protest in Punjab against the latest agriculture reforms brought in by the National Democratic Alliance government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party. Gandhi led a tractor rally from Badni Kalan to Jatpura, and also addressed gatherings of farmers. He accused the Union government of only helping big businesses amid the Covid-19 pandemic while ignoring farmers and the impoverished. Drawing a puppet show analogy, Gandhi said that the Central government was not being controlled by PM Modi, but 'Adani and Ambani'. The Congress leader is expected to participate in such tractor rallies and farmer gatherings till October 6. The 'Kheti Bachao Yatra' is in opposition to 3 farm bills recently cleared by the Parliament amid heavy Opposition protests. While the Union government claims that they will liberate farmers from the grip of middlemen, many farmers fear that the reform is a precursor to abolition of the minimum support price (MSP) regime. The NDA government has denied such plans. Watch the full video for more.
