Altamas Kabir sworn in as new Chief Justice of India

Justice Altamas Kabir, 64, the most senior judge of the Supreme Court, was today sworn in as the 39th Chief Justice of India (CJI) by President Pranab Mukherjee. Justice Kabir, took the oath at a brief ceremony in the Ashoka Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
