Ashok Chavan replaces Vilasrao Deshmukh

Political upheaval continued in Maharashtra on Friday after the party chief of ruling congress, Sonia Gandhi named Ashok Chavan as the new head of Maharashtra. 97 lawmakers of the state after the party meeting had left the decision of nominating the head to Sonia Gandhi. Senior Congress leader and foreign minister, Pranab Mukherjee announced the name of Ashok Chavan before media in New Delhi.
