Delhi govt announces compensation to radiation victim's kin
The Delhi government declared monetary compensation to the family of Rajender, a worker at the scrap shop in capital's Mayapuri area, who died of multiple organ failure after exposure to a radioactive metal. Reportedly, on April 9, Deepak Jain, the scrap-dealer had bought a consignment containing a piece of the radioactive material and when his employees handled a bright piece of shining metal from the scrap heap, they suffered burn injuries while Jain himself experienced hair fall and the skin turning black.
