Suspected militants kill Sarpanch in J&K

Suspected militants today gunned down a sarpanch in Sopore town in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Unknown militants had opened fire on Habibullah Mir, head of the village council of Gooripora Bomie in Sopore. Mir was shifted to a local hospital with serious gun shot wounds however; he later succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah condemned the incident and said that more security in the region is required.
