Indian Navy, Coast Guard To Buy C-295 Aircraft; New 'Hawks' To Counter Pak, China Threats

The Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard will acquire new C-295 transport aircraft in a major boost for Make in India in the defence sector. The proposals for the acquisition of these 15 C-295 aircraft are at an advanced stage in the defence ministry. Nine planes would be procured by the Navy while six would be taken by the Indian Coast Guard. The aircraft are being manufactured in India in a joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems and Airbus.
