Jaishankar inaugurates renovated Mahatma Gandhi Library at Nairobi University

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar inaugurated the renovated Mahatma Gandhi Library at University of Nairobi. Jaishankar, who is on a three-day visit to Kenya, said that India's association with Nairobi university goes back to decades. “Today, the renovation of Mahatma Gandhi library stands completed. Generation of Kenyan students will find it useful in their quest for knowledge. I can say that we have delivered on that promise. I thank all those in Kenya, India, high commissions, ministries, the university. This is not just a moment for self-congratulation. It's a time to reflect on the larger significance of India-Kenya relationship. India's association with this university goes back decades. The very memory of Mahatma Gandhi was meant to underline our strong solidarity. It also reminds us of the Kenyans with Indian heritage. In the decades that have passed, this sentiment has not diminished,” he said. India & Kenya are currently serving in the UNSC & are members of the Commonwealth. Kenya is an active member of the African Union, with which India has longstanding ties.
