SC refused to entertain former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh's plea. Singh had sought transfer of all inquiries against him to an agency outside Maharashtra. The former top cop had alleged that the police force was prejudiced against him. Petition was heard by a vacation bench of Justices Hemant Gupta & V Ramasubramanian. After the apex court observed it would dismiss the petition, Singh's counsel withdrew the plea. Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer, was removed as Mumbai Police chief on March 17. Soon, Singh levelled corruption allegations against ex-Maharashtra HM Anil Deshmukh. Singh had levelled the corruption charges in a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray in March. CBI is currently probing Singh’s charges against Deshmukh of running an alleged extortion racket.
