Rishi Sunak made history when he became the first Indian-origin Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. During his first public address outside 10 Downing Street, Sunak was seen sporting a red thread known as ‘mouli’ or ‘kalawa’, which is often used in Hindu rituals and religious ceremonies as a sacred cotton thread, worn on the wrist to ward off negative energy.
