Justice Uday Umesh Lalit has been sworn in as 49th Chief Justice of India on Saturday. President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office of the Chief Justice of India to Justice Lalit at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The new CJI has started off on a high note and promised reforms in priority areas in Supreme Court. From listing constitutional bench cases to bringing at least 550 'sensitive' matters back to circulation before courts, CJI Lalit has said he is determined to speed up the wheels of justice in the Supreme Court.
