Why Karnataka has a problem with Hijab only? Minister Nagesh answers

Karnataka campuses became battlefields earlier this week after BJP government in the state prohibited Muslim students from wearing Hijab in classes. The ban triggered protests with Muslim girls rally against the government move. The situation deteriorated after Hindu students backed by right-wing groups staged counter protests against Hijab. As the situation started to go from bad to worse, the Karnataka government closed the schools and colleges for three days. In an interview to Hindustan Times, Karnataka Education Minister BC Nagesh defended the government ban on Hijab in the state's schools and colleges, saying it violates the uniformity and dress code in the educational institutes. However when questioned about other religious symbols, the minister took a different stand, making it clear his government has no problem with Sikh turban and Hindu thread. Watch the full interview.
