Large parts of Kyiv were plunged into darkness after Russian strikes reportedly damaged power infrastructure across Ukraine, triggering widespread electricity disruptions. Residential buildings lost power as cars moved through unlit streets and darkened neighbourhoods. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said 28 substations and other critical energy facilities were damaged, leaving at least 550,000 households without electricity. Ukrainian officials also reported Russian missile and drone attacks targeting Kyiv and other locations.
