Music festival bars most men in response to sex assaults

A music festival with a difference is taking place in Sweden this weekend. The “Statement” festival in Gothenburg is open only to women, and to non-binary and transgender people. There's no access for cis-men, a term denoting men whose gender matches their assigned sex at birth. The event was set up as a statement - hence the name - against sex assaults at music festivals in Sweden last summer. Organiser Emma Knyckare said it was time to create a space where women didn't have to fear unwanted attention from men.
