Rishi Sunak poised to become UK PM on Diwali as Boris Johnson pulls out of race

Indian-origin Rishi Sunak could become the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom today itself after ex-PM Boris Johnson exited the race to 10 Downing Street. Johnson failed to secure the much-needed support of 100 MPs to be in the race. Rishi Sunak is the frontrunner who has the backing of 142 Conservatives. Now all eyes are on another contender, Penny Mordaunt who has the backing of fewer than 30 MPs.
