Sex abuse scandal hits UK royal family: Prince Andrew sued by Epstein accuser

Britain's Prince Andrew was sued in a New York court for alleged sexual abuse of a woman. Lawyers of Virginia Giuffre filed the civil complaint at US district court in Manhattan. Giuffre, an alleged victim of US financier Jeffrey Epstein, said she was trafficked for sex. She alleged the Duke of York sexually assaulted her two decades ago when she was 17. Giuffre has previously said publicly that she was forced to perform sex acts with Andrew. In a 2019 BBC interview, the prince had categorically denied the claim of sexual abuse. 61-year-old Prince Andrew is one of the most prominent people linked to Epstein. In July 2019, Epstein was charged with sexually exploiting dozens of girls & women. Later in August, the registered sex offender killed himself at 66 in a Manhattan jail. Manhattan federal prosecutors later said Andrew had not cooperated with their probe.
