Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has sacked his defence minister Oleksii Reznikov amid a flailing counteroffensive against Russia. Zelensky said that the Defence Ministry needs “new approaches” with the military amid the ongoing Russian invasion. Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov has submitted his resignation letter to the chairman of parliament. “It was an honour to serve the Ukrainian people and work for the (Ukrainian army) for the last 22 months, the toughest period of Ukraine’s modern history,” Reznikov said in a post on X. President Zelenskyy nominated Rustem Umerov, a Crimean Tatar who has been head of the State Property Fund since last year, to replace Reznikov.
