Germany: Youth murders granny, runs over two police officers while fleeing

After the killing was discovered, the man fled in a car and caused several road accidents before he ran over two officers at a temporary checkpoint set up to stop him.

A 24-year-old man in Germany on Tuesday allegedly murdered his grandmother before killing two police officers by running them over with his car, authorities said.

The man is believed to have killed his 79-year-old grandmother at Muellrose, a small town near the eastern city of Frankfurt-an-der-Oder, a police spokesman said.

After the killing was discovered, the man fled in a car and caused several road accidents before he ran over two officers at a temporary checkpoint set up to stop him.

The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards, close to the border with Poland.

Police did not give details on the motive for the murder of the elderly woman.
