US vice-president Mike Pence has raised about $1 million at a fundraiser in Washington that also featured Ivanka Trump.

That is according to two people in attendance who described it afterward to The Associated Press. They demanded anonymity to share details from the private event.
Pence serves as the White House’s chief liaison to lawmakers.
His fundraiser capped a day that showcased his role: Earlier he had cast the deciding vote in the Senate’s move to begin debating how to end President Barack Obama’s signature health care law.
House Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and dozens of other lawmakers attended the Pence fundraiser.
Pence’s political committee can accept checks of up to $5,000 from individual donors and can, in turn, donate that money to political candidates he backs.
