The death toll in the Nepal flood continues to soar, with 120 people being reported killed --- most of them in the country’s southern plain in Tarai --- as of Tuesday.

According to Nepal’s ministry of home affairs, 35 people are still missing even as 39 have been reported injured in the flood.
As many as 29 districts have been badly hit even as thousands of government buildings, including schools and hospitals, have been damaged or destroyed, home minister Janardan Sharma said in Parliament on Tuesday.
Nepal is distributing relief materials to the affected families and giving Rs 200,000 each to the kin of those deceased in the disaster. Families whose houses have been destroyed are getting Rs 10,000 each.
