White House trade advisor Peter Navarro on Monday called Charlie Kirk a "historical figure" as he drew parallels between US President Donald Trump and the conservative activist.

The US economist, while speaking to CNBC in an interview, called Kirk "the greatest political organizer in the last 50 years".

Charlie Kirk was allegedly shot dead on September 10 while he was speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem. The assassination at the US campus, carried out allegedly by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, has put America at edge as President Trump blamed 'radical left' for the killing.

While speaking on Charlie Kirk's assassination, the White House advisor invoked the assassination bid on Trump, saying the “difference between Trump and Kirk was a millimetre.”

Talking of his book 'I went to prison so you won't have to', Navarro said, "I wrote this as a wake up call and a warning to America that what's going on here is not right. It's not good for the country."

"The difference between Donald Trump and Charlie Kirk is a millimeter. And the worst thing I had in prison July 13 was watching my boss get shot. And there would be a very different story right now if that thing had been this much," he added.

He was referring to the assassination attempt on Trump during his presidential campaign as he was speaking at an open-air rally in Pennsylvania. Trump was shot in the ear and visuals showed blood on his face. The shooter was killed by Secret Service agents.

Navarro further said that Charlie Kirk “could have been President, certainly a governor” even as highlighted Kirk's achievement at the age of 31.

“When I first met him in 2016, I thought he was Don Quixote. You can't do that. I mean, the youth of America, they're hopelessly left. Charlie did that, and he was important, certainly in the presidential election…Nobody did that better. He was 31 years old when he achieved that,” he added.
