WASHINGTON: Donald Trump’s wife Melania said his lewd remarks about groping women was “unacceptable and offensive,” but urged the public to accept his apology.
WASHINGTON: Donald Trump’s wife Melania said his lewd remarks about groping women was “unacceptable and offensive,” but urged the public to accept his apology.
“The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know... I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation,” she said in a statement.
Without specifically using Trump’s name, actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said he would not vote for the Republican nominee.
“For the first time since I became a citizen in 1983, I will not vote for the Republican candidate for President. Like many Americans, I’ve been conflicted by this election. I still haven’t made up my mind about how exactly I will vote next month,” he said in a statement.
Schwarzenegger said he was proud to call himself a Republican, but added he was more proud to hold the label of ‘American’.
“The Terminator” star himself was accused of sexually harassing six women on film sets between 1975 and 2000.
Legendary actor Robert De Niro lashed out at Trump, calling him a blatantly stupid punk whom he would like to punch in the face. In a video published by Vice news website, the actor said Trump is “so blatantly stupid. He’s a punk, a dog, he’s a pig.”
“Colin Powell [former US secretary of state] said it best: he’s a national disaster. He’s an embarrassment to this country. It makes me so angry this country has gotten to this point that this fool, this bozo, has wound up where he has,” the “Taxi Driver” star fumed.
It was not clear when the video was recorded, though it was uploaded on the site on Saturday.
