Sri Lankan soldiers attacked a group of Tamil Tiger rebels in the volatile east on Tuesday, killing at least three guerrillas, the military said.
Soldiers confronted the rebels in eastern Batticaloa district while they were fleeing a military operation in the area, an official at the Defence Ministry's media centre said on customary condition of anonymity.
