Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus says the plane went down Sunday afternoon about 2:20pm southwest of the Burley airport's runway.

He says it's still unclear if the plane was preparing to land or had just taken off.

Fergus tells The Associated Press that four people died in the crash, but he has no other information on them.

KMVT-TV quotes Burley city administrator Mark Mitton as saying that the four were all members of an Idaho family. No names have been released.

The Times-News reports that the fire ignited dry grass south of US Highway 30. Burley firefighters responded to douse the flames.
