An explosion on board a US helicopter killed two people and wounded 10 NATO troops shortly after landing in eastern Afghanistan on Tuesday, the military said.

The US-led International Security Assistance Force(ISAF) said the cause of the explosion was unclear and that 26 people had been onboard the aircraft.

"Ten people were wounded and two killed after an explosion onboard an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) helicopter that had just landed in eastern Afghanistan today, according to initial reports," the military said.

An ISAF spokesman told all 10 wounded were ISAF service members and that the helicopter in question was a US Chinook.
