Fire fighters are battling to control a blaze at a Nippon Steel Corp plant in southern Japan.

Fire fighters were battling to control a blaze at a Nippon Steel Corp plant in southern Japan, local police and a company official said on Tuesday.

Noone was thought injured in the blaze which erupted at the plant in Kitakyushu city on Tuesday morning, a police spokesman said.

"The fire fighters are still trying to contain the blaze," said Nippon Steel spokesman Masato Suzuki.
