The opposition Conservatives are guaranteed to be the biggest party in the British parliament after winning at least 287 of the 650 seats on Friday, but looked set to fall short of an overall majority.

At 08:25 am (0725 GMT) David Cameron's party had 48 seats more than the ruling Labour Party of Prime Minister Gordon Brown with just 46 seats left to be counted.
