First US drone strike in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa kills five

The first US drone strike in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killed five people Thursday, two of them belonging to Afghanistan's Haqqani network, officials said.

The first US drone strike in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province killed five people Thursday, two of them belonging to Afghanistan's Haqqani network, officials said.

The attack targeting a religious seminary belonging to the Haqqani network took place in Tal, a town in the northwestern Hangu district bordering the North Waziristan, Orakzai and Kurram tribal regions.

"The drone strike targeting the seminary killed five people and wounded another one," local police and security officials told AFP on condition of anonymity.
