Gunman holds hostage in Discovery Channel HQ in US

Police say a gunman entered the Discovery Channel building in the Washington suburbs and has taken one person hostage. Footage from WJLA-TV showed police vehicles with their lights on outside the office building in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Police say a gunman has entered the Discovery Channel headquarters in Silver Springs and has taken at least one person hostage.

Cpl. Dan Friz told the channel that a gunman was in the building.

Police did not immediately return calls.
