In an open online question and answer hosted The Guardian journalists who broke the story, Snowden said, “No. I have had no contact with the Chinese government. Just like with the Guardian and the Washington Post, I only work with journalists.”
Many here in the US, including some lawmakers, have alleged, without citing evidence, that Snowden is cooperating with Chinese authorities.
“There’s a lot of reason for suspicion,” Peter king, a power Republican House representative said in a TV interview, adding, Snowden, transferred money to China, studied Chinese and “he arranged to have the papers, or his documents, released on the same weekend that President Obama was meeting the president of China”.
And the fact that Snowden is currently in Hong Kong. He has been in touch with a local daily South China Morning Post — claiming among other things he is not in hiding.
