On Wednesday, India informed Lankan authorities that it had decided to extend the terms of the seven Indian demining teams working for the two Indian agencies Horizon and Sarvatra, stationed in Sri Lanka for several years.
The extension of the contracts of these organisations would be worth SLR 410 million (US $3.65 million). It is expected that, in addition to contributing to the critical task of resettling the internally displaced persons, these teams will also be deployed for the demining work required for the reconstruction of the northern railway network.
