The Bangalore-based GMR group is a part of a consortium that has completed a new terminal for the Sabiha Gokcen International airport in Istanbul, Turkey. The terminal, which has been completed in a record of 18 months, was inaugurated on Saturday.

GMR, which also leads the consortium that is developing Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, has become the first Indian private sector company to have successfully completed an airport project abroad.

The new terminal was inaugurated by the Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. India's Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Praful Patel was also present at the ceremony.

“With the opening of this terminal, a new era of relationship and economic partnership has begun," Patel said.
