The bodies of a married Indian-origin couple were found in Southall on Friday – the woman was apparently strangled while the man was found hanged, the Metropolitan police said on Sunday.
The police have launched an investigation after the bodies of Sanjeev Kumar, 36, (also known as Satbir Singh) and Poonam, 35, were found by the police following concerns of the welfare of the residents at the Southall address. Southall has a large population of Indian origin.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene, the police said, and added that post-mortem examinations revealed the cause of death of the woman as compression of the neck and the man as suspension caused by hanging.
The police said that at this stage, they were treating the death of the woman as murder, while the death of the man was not being treated as suspicious. No one was being sought in connection with this incident at this time, the police added.
