Provincial police chief Marcus Ochole said on Sunday that officials are investigating the reports of the shooting just before midnight yesterday in the town of Siakago, northeast of Nairobi.

Antonin Newite, a local radio reporter, said the police officer opened fire in three different bars, killing on person in each of the first two bars and eight people in the third bar.

Nyaga Manunga, whose daughter was killed, says several hundred people are now protesting outside the police station.
