The tiger pounced on Tambun Gediu while he was hunting squirrels near the couple’s home in a jungle settlement, an official in Perak state reported.
Han Besau, 55, heard her husband’s screams, and rushed out and hit the tiger, causing it to flee.
Tambun, now receiving hospital treatment for cuts to his face and legs, said he climbed a tree to escape, but the tiger dragged him down. “I was terrified and I used all my strength to punch the animal in the face, but it would not budge,” he said.
“I had to wrestle with it to keep its jaws away from me, and it would have clawed me to death if my wife had not arrived.”
