Malaysia Airlines releases statement on passenger nationalities

Malaysian Airlines has released a media statement informing that all European flights operated by Malaysia Airlines will be taking alternative routes avoiding the usual routes with immediate effect.

Malaysian Airlines has released a media statement informing that all European flights operated by Malaysia Airlines will be taking alternative routes avoiding the usual routes with immediate effect.

The statement also confirmed that the aircraft did not make a distress call and also added that "International Air Transportation Association has stated that the airspace the aircraft was traversing was not subject to restrictions."

The statement also added that a total of 298 people were on the flight comprising of 283 passengers including 3 infants and 15 crew members.
