Manmohan's re-lection welcome step for SAARC: Koirala

Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala has said that with the re-election of Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister of India, agenda of enhanced cooperation among SAARC countries will be pushed.

Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala has said that with the re-election of Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister of India, agenda of enhanced cooperation among SAARC countries will be pushed.

Congratulating Singh, he said the people of India had voted expressly in favour of democracy, peace, stability and also for the continuity of Singh's leadership, in order to further uplift India.

Koirala said in his letter of congratulation that he was optimistic that Singh's leadership would wholeheartedly push ahead the agenda of peace, stability and enhanced economic cooperation among the SAARC member countries.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani extended felicitations to Premier Madhav Nepal on his assumption of the post.

Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina also conveyed her congratulations to Nepal.

Bangladesh attaches high importance to its relations with Nepal, a relationship that is based on a common history, culture and values, says a press statement issued by the Bangladesh Embassy.
