Nepal PM to meet Chinese President
Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda will meet Chinese president Hu Jintao and premier Wen Jiabao during his visit to China, reports Anirban Roy.
Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda will meet Chinese president Hu Jintao and premier Wen Jiabao during his visit to China.
Prachanda is scheduled to leave for Beijing today to take part in the closing ceremony of the Olympics.
The Nepali PM is leading a delegation of 11 members, including his wife Sita Poudel, senior Maoist leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara and senior government officials, including chief secretary Bhoj Raj Ghimire.
Prachanda will meet the Chinese premier Wen Jiabao on Sunday, sources in the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu said.
The Nepali delegation is likely to seek China’s support in bringing about development in Nepal, which has been riddled with insurgency for more than a decade.
For the last few months, the Communist Party of China has been trying to establish stronger relationships with the Maoists in Nepal.
