Polling to be free and fair: Musharraf

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday said elections scheduled Feb 18 would be held in a free and fair manner and according to international standards.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday said elections scheduled Feb 18 would be held in a free and fair manner and according to international standards.

The polls will be held under the supervision of caretaker government and in free, fair manner and no one should doubt that, Musharraf said while talking to caretaker Prime Minister Muhammadmian Soomro in presidential camp office.

Online news agency quoted sources saying the meeting lasted for quite a while, and overall political scenario, matters relating to law and order, upcoming elections and other issues were discussed in detail.

The president said international observers were free to review the elections adding they have no restriction whatsoever in this regard.
