Since Somalia has now implemented the Sharia, there is no reason for the continuation of hostilities in the country, Ahmed said Wednesday after signing the bill into law.

The introduction of Sharia in the country has been a key demand of the Islamist groups.

The parliament last month unanimously endorsed the implementation of Sharia.

Somalia has been ravaged in the fighting between the government troops and Islamist militants as both sides try to gain control in the country.

More than 150 people have died in the latest fighting that broke out last Thursday in the Somali capital, according to reports.
