South Korea has not been informed by Beijing of a reported visit to China by North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il, Foreign Minister Ban Ki-Moon said on Wednesday.

"I am not in a position to comment on that issue," Ban told a weekly briefing.
"There was no announcement from China, and China has neither informed us nor confirmed the trip," he added.
But Ban said that Kim's previous visits to China were shrouded in similar secrecy and his trips were only made public after they had taken place.
"When chairman Kim visited China three times in the past, China and North Korea only announced it after he had returned home," he said.
