The Metropolitan police had to close the Westminster Bridge while one protestor was rescued after he jumped into the Thames.
The Westminster tube station was also closed as the protestors demonstrated without seeking permission of the police and local authorities.
The demonstrations with placards and slogans continued late in the evening yesterday as families, including children, set up tents and refused to be moved. A Scotland Yard spokesperson said there had been no arrests and added that the Westminster Bridge was closed.
