US college to offer classes in Gandhian philosophy

A prestigious institute in the US state of Nevada will offer classes in the Gandhian philosophy of non-violence during the sessions beginning in December and April.

A prestigious institute in the US state of Nevada will offer classes in the Gandhian philosophy of non-violence during the sessions beginning in December and April.



Truckee Meadows Community college's move follows renewed interest in Mahatma Gandhi among Americans, said Rajan Zed, who will take three classes in the philosophy of Gandhi, emphasising his advocacy of non-violence and world peace as also his work for the uplift of the poor.



There are several US-based websites relating to Mahatma Gandhi and there is even a Gandhi Virtual Ashram USA.


Although Gandhi never set foot on America, he was on

Time

magazine covers in 1930, 1931, and 1947; Time Person of the Year in 1930; and was runner-up for Time Person of the Century.
