President Hamid Karzai says in an interview aired on Sunday on ABC News' "This Week with Christiane Amanpour" that he is reaching out to Taliban members willing to break with al-Qaida and other terrorist groups.

But he says Afghan women will have "solid and meaningful" representation in any formal talks so their political, social and economic gains will not only be protected but expanded.

Karzai says he is also committed to combating corruption, which is undermining support for his US-backed government.
