Bhopal alone reported more than 200 dengue cases this year, while the vector-borne disease claimed two lives in the city. National football player Gaurav Kundu, who stays at Awadhpuri, tested positive for dengue on Wednesday, sources in the health department said.

A high-level review meeting of health department was held on Wednesday where it was decided a fine of `500 would be imposed from households if dengue larvae are found on inspection.

Health officials also reviewed fogging work done in various wards.

“People were warned to be on guard from mosquito-borne disease until there is a drop in temperature. Dengue or chikungunya larvae cannot survive if mercury goes below 16 degree Celsius,” district malaria officer Akhilesh Dubey said.
