Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai turns 16: Tusshar Kapoor recalls interesting anecdotes
Actor Tusshar Kapoor marked his debut in the film industry with the 2001 film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, which also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan.
For actor Tusshar Kapoor, May 25 is a very special day. And why not! On this day, 16 years ago, he made his Bollywood debut with Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001). The film starring Tusshar, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rinke Khanna was helmed by Satish Kaushik.
“It was a super hit film. I never expected that it would do so well, given at that time we all, Kareena, Rinke [Khanna] and I, were newcomers in the industry. Many thought that the film wouldn’t work, but it did. Most importantly, Satishji believed in us,” says Tusshar.
Going down the memory lane, Tusshar shares how he enjoyed shooting the song sequences in the film at beautiful locations in New Zealand. “Another memory for me was the scene we shot at Delhi airport. Satishji was worried as we didn’t have much time, but Kareena and I got the shot right in the first take,” shares the actor.
The first ever scene that Tusshar shot for the film [also his first shot in front of the camera] was a train sequence. “I am imagining about proposing this girl (the character played by Kareena), and how she reacts to it. But I soon wake up from the dream,” he recalls. However, the scene didn’t make its way to the final cut. “In the beginning I was a bit disappointed, but then I realised that doing away with it made the film a little tighter,” adds Tusshar.
Asked whether he would team up with Kareena again, Tusshar replies he would love to. This brings him to another special recollection about the film. “There was a scene where Kareena was supposed to give me lift [in her car] in Khandala. But suddenly, she said she doesn’t know how to drive. So we had to organise for a truck and trolley overnight to make sure we finish the shoot on time,” laughs Tusshar.
