A self-styled godman who allegedly raped and duped an Afghan woman, was arrested on Saturday after he was absconding for the last eight days.

According to the 24-year-old Afghan, the incident took place in southeast Delhi’s Amar Colony area. According to the police, “the woman said she had approached the guru to seek his blessings as she was not doing well in her career. She did so following someone’s advice that her career will flourish due to his blessings.

“She alleged the guru gave her some prasad, laced with sedatives. After consuming it, she fell unconscious. Taking advantage the guru allegedly raped her,” an official added.

The police said that the complainant has also accused the guru of threatening to kill her if she approached police. She has also charged the guru of cheating her with Rs 10 lakh, police added.

The Afghan national claimed that she paid the money under influence of some black magic. The complainant said when she asked the guru to return her money, he refused and threatened, police said.

The guru went missing after the woman approached police. He was held from one of his hideouts with the help of technical surveillance. A case of rape and cheating has been registered against him, police said.
